Novatto Faucet Breakdowns
Create a multipurpose video that is informative, efficient, and good looking.
ProjectOverview
I created six faucet showcase videos using a reusable 3D animation workflow designed to support future products. By planning the staging, effects, and timelines around interchangeable models, I could adapt each video to a faucet’s unique components while maintaining a consistent visual style.
All six videos were completed in two weeks, against an anticipated month-long production schedule. The resulting framework allows new faucets to be introduced with targeted animation and rendering adjustments, with an estimated three-day turnaround per additional product.
TheChallenge
These videos were designed for multiple purposes. And one of those was to repurpose as much work as possible for other faucets and their unique parts. Ideally, and with a lot of forethought, I can simply replace the faucet models and do whatever animations and adjustments necessary to have the render fit the blocking and effects established in the timelines. The cost for one of these videos through most studios would be somewhere around $5,000-$10,000, with about a month to fully produce the seven that was requested. I got it done in just two weeks, with an estimated three-day timeframe for each new faucet introduced in this format.
DesignDecisions
The first 15 seconds are glamour shots that can be used throughout our social media campaigns and enrichment. The remainder serves as a demonstration for the disassembly and replacement of parts for Novatto faucets. It's important we made it very clear how to do so, with the appropriate tools listed. However, I also thought it would be important to keep it concise, trusting customers/viewers with parts of the process that would be redundant or excessive to include in animation.
TheOutcome
I was able to produce over 10 minutes worth of content in a fraction of the time and money estimated for this kind of project. Since they became accessible to the team and Novatto customers, our support has been able to bypass complex instructions by pointing them to these videos.
